HRC coordinates several races and running events each year, in addition to hosting the HRC Runner’s Club for adults and Rec Runners for kids (see Youth Wellness)
HRC RUNNERS CLUB
This is a runner’s club designed for those who love to run. We will meet weekly and be part of a group that shares a common interest and love for running. The annual fee includes a running jersey and discounted entrance fee to HRC running and triathlon events. You may choose to get additional individualized running programs from 5k, 10k, 1/2, and Full Marathons.

FREE SPIRIT 5K/10K RUN
Sign up at www.raceentry.com. The 14th Annual Free Spirit Run is being held in memory of Jordyn Claiborn, who was killed in a car accident on September 11, 2009. All proceeds from the run will be donated to the Hays High Free Spirit Award and the Jordyn Claiborn Memorial Scholarship at the FHSU Herndon Clinic for Speech and Language.

BEER & DONUTS OLYMPIC CHALLENGE RUN
Get ready to unleash your inner Olympian at the Beer Olympics. There’s really nothing like gathering together for a fun run with friends and then adding some beer-drinking games. Come play some games with a drink in hand (Gatorade & water for those non-beer drinkers). Compete in yard game challenges for prizes. Did we forget you mention, you must take a drink before moving on? Don’t be the one left out of the fun sign-up now.

TURKEY TROT 5K/10K
Sign up at www.raceentry.com. The Hays Recreation Commission, in conjunction with Papa Murphy’s Take ‘n’ Bake Pizza and Hays High XC. Are ready to kick off the holiday season with our Turkey Trot! Come challenge yourself or just enjoy a great experience with your friends and family. All participants will receive a T-shirt, and overall winners will receive a turkey.

FROSTY FUN RUN
Want to end the year on a bang. Join us on New Year’s Eve morning with a short 1 mile or a 5k walk/run by yourself or with families/friends. When you reach the finish line end with hot chocolate and a chocolate bar of special treats.

BRAIN FREEZE WALK / BE A SUPERHERO
Join us for the 5th Annual Brain Freeze Walk/Run! Embrace your inner superhero as you race through our fully paved 1-mile walk or 5K Run. Walkers, runners, bikers, and strollers are all welcome as we unite to support the HRC Youth Scholarship Fund. Be a hero in your community—register today and make a difference!
