ONGOING WELLNESS PROGRAM

TAI CHI SENIORS
Tai Chi Senior is a proactive origination in China and has been used for many years to promote health and wellbeing.  It has been seen that Tai Chi can help to improve balance and relaxation.  It consists of slow, fluid movements, which is done in a standing position.  This class is geared toward senior adults and beginner Tai Chi participants. This class will also bring to you standing yoga poses that will complete your overall mind and body.

WEDNESDAY WALKERS BREAKFAST
On the third Wednesday of every month, the Hays Recreation Commission will be offering a light/healthy breakfast for everyone interested in using our gyms as a walking track.  This program is a great way to get involved, stay active, and meet others who also walk in our gyms.

FITNESS ASSEMENT
This is an assessment that has a Cardiovascular Endurance, Muscular Strength, and Flexibility Test which is used to measure your current fitness level. In addition, a 7 sight Skin Fold Test or Bio-impendence measurement is taken to calculate Body Mass Index (BMI). This complete analysis is also included in our Personal Training Packages. Senior Assessments’ are also available.
Fee: $10.00

BODY FAT ANALYSIS
A Body Fat Analysis can be utilized to keep track of your progress or see where you are at prior to starting at our fitness facility. It consists of your body weight and height, or Body Mass Index (BMI), body fat percentage, and blood pressure. Please call to set up an appointment at 623-2658.

CONSULTATION TUESDAYS
Come utilize our professional staff to help keep your goals in sight. On the 2nd Tuesday of every month, you can receive a FREE Fitness Assessment or Body Fat Analysis (by appointment only). This is a great way to keep track of your fitness progress. You must also be an active HRC Fitness Center member to be eligible for this. Call to schedule an appointment with our Fitness Specialist at 623-2658.

BLOOD PRESSURE CHECK
Have you had your blood pressure checked lately?  You can have your blood pressure checked monthly or weekly for FREE.  A personal card will be kept on file at the HRC Fitness Center.

WEEKLY WEIGH-IN IT’S “FREE”
Staying motivated to lose those extra pounds can be very challenging.  Let us help you by dropping in weekly to weigh-in. A personal weigh-in card will be started for you, and each week you will chart your progress toward your goal.  There is no charge!

SENIOR HOUR
Come exercise and feel at home with others your speed and your style. This is an hour-long period every weekday M-F from 9:00-10:00am. This segment of the day is catered for our Senior and Adult participants who may feel out of place with the younger crowd. Come try our facility in a more welcoming environment.

STAY ACTIVE SENIORS
We are reaching out to our senior population in Hays and bringing the benefits of fitness to your residency. We travel to your retirement community once a month on Friday’s at 1:00pm, and lead you through a fun and easy to follow 30 minute exercise class. Let our instructors show you how keeping active can benefit your life. Not for individual homes or private residency. Call to sign up your group retirement residency at 623-2658.

HRC GYM DAILY WALKERS
Come use the HRC Gyms when it is too cold or wet to walk outdoors. Sign up for this program, keep track of your own mileage, and at 100 miles you will receive a t-shirt. To receive a t-shirt individuals must sign up for this FREE program, walk the HRC GYMS, and complete their 100 miles in one calendar year. Times are available all day to walk, however the best time to walk is between 5:00am - 12:00pm Monday - Friday.  Check our web page or call the office to confirm open gym time. Walking distances:
Walk all 3 gyms - 9 laps = 1 mile
Walk Gym #1 & #2 - 12 laps = 1 mile

CORPORTATE WELLNESS AND HEALTH INCENTIVE PROGRAM
The Corporate Wellness and Health Incentive program we offer is a great way to keep your employees motivated, productive, and healthy throughout the work year. With a minimum of 5 participants you will receive a membership at discounted rate. You will also be entered automatically into our Corporate Wellness Challenge. CORPORATE WELLNESS CHALLENGE
This is a fun and healthy way to keep your employees motivated throughout the holiday and winter months. There are three different monthly challenges and corporate winners of the challenges will receive a free month’s membership. You must be a participating Corporate Wellness and Health Incentive company to participate in this program.

TURKEY TROT 5K/10K
The Hays Recreation Commission, in conjunction with Papa Murphy’s Take ‘n’ Bake Pizza, is ready to kick off the holiday season with our Turkey Trot! Come challenge yourself or just enjoy a great experience with your friends.  We will have a kids division also! All participants will receive a T-shirt, Overall winners will receive a turkey. Following the event we will commence then Sunflower Race Series Award Ceremony.

SELF DEFENSE
You will practice hands on basic to advance self defense maneuvers. Learn to protect yourself and your loved ones. Be prepared and no longer live in fear.

HAYS CITY BENCH PRESS
This is a raw bench press lifting competition sponsored by the Hays Recreation Fitness Center for natural lifters only. We will be using a calibrated kilogram weight set. This event will use the rules of USA Powerlifting. It will be directed by Wayne David Herl, USA Powerlifting Kansas State Chairman. PARK BASH
Instructors will lead you on a run from the Hays Rec Fitness Center to the park where they will break into groups and lead you through a series of fat burning circuits. You will return back to the Rec for a cool down.

BLACK FRIDAY BOOTCAMP
Eat too much over Thanksgiving?  Feeling the need to work off some of those calories?  Come join HRC Fitness for our Black Friday Bootcamp.  This 60 minute boot camp will mix traditional callisthenic and body weight exercises with interval and strength training.  This will be an intense work out so that one can achieve maximum results, while having fun and working at your own pace.

HRC HOLIDAY WORKOUT SHOWCASE
Come spend the morning meeting instructors and sampling all of our Hays Rec Fitness classes and programs including HRC HITT, Zumba, Yoga, TNT, Cardio Max, Core and Strength. Door prizes and snacks will be served. A drawing for memberships and other great door prizes will take place after the showcase.

NEW YEAR’S BOOTCAMP
Ready to begin a New Year?  Let instructors set you in the right direction with our eight weekend and 60-minute Saturday morning bootcamp. It will help direct you towards your New Years fitness goals in a controlled, fun, and safe environment. We will use strength, body weight, and interval training for a healthy dose of fitness knowledge for you to take and use on your own.
