TINY TOT SWIMMERS - 1 & 2 year olds as of first day of class WITH an adult in the water

Discover the fun of swimming with your child in our Tiny Tot Swimmers guided water exploration program.  This class teaches a set of basic skills and rudimentary strokes through fun, games and guided learning.  The goal of this class is to increase your child’s comfort, confidence and skill in the water.  One parent must participate IN THE WATER with their child.  The classes will take place in the Zero Depth area of the Hays Aquatic Park.

LITTLE SWIMMERS - 3-5 year olds as of first day of class WITH an adult in the water

Discover the fun of swimming with your child in our Little Swimmers guided water exploration program.  This class teaches a set of basic skills and rudimentary strokes through fun, games and guided learning.  The goal of this class is to increase your child’s comfort, confidence and skill in the water.  One parent must participate IN THE WATER with their child.  The classes will take place in the Zero Depth and Lap Pool area of the Hays Aquatic Park.

HRC SWIM LESSON PROGRAM 5 & older as of June 1st
Classes will be held Monday – Thursday
.  Each class is 45 min. long. 

You need to choose a Session, Time, and Level!

You will not be contacted unless your requested time is not available, please mark these dates on your calendar.

Make up dates: In case of bad weather, class can be made up on Fridays of week one and two. 

Refund policy:  There are no refunds issued after the first day of class.

JUNIOR LIFEGUARD PROGRAM - 11-14 year olds as of June 1st

If you are between 11 & 14 years old and have always wanted to be a lifeguard, now is the time to take the first step.  The Junior Lifeguard program is designed for youth to provide a foundation of aquatic & leadership knowledge, attitudes and skills for future successful completion of lifeguard training courses.  By enrolling in this program you will experience what it takes to be a great lifeguard!

Classes will be held Monday – Thursday.  Each class is 45 minutes long.  Red Cross guidelines are followed.  In case of bad weather, class can be made up on Fridays of week one and two.

Refund policy: There are no refunds issued after the first day of class.

 

LEARN TO SWIM PROGRAM LEVELS - a student does not have to pass one level to move on to the next, they must have mastered the skills before moving on to the next!

Level I: Beginner Introduction to Water Skills

Skills to pass: Front and back glide (with support), front and back float (with support), bobbing, blowing bubbles, entering and exiting the water independently, basic arm and leg movements.


Level II: Beginner Fundamental Aquatic Skills
Skills to pass: Front and back glide (w/out support), front and back float (w/out support), fully submerging and holding breath, opening eyes under water, treading water, more in-depth arm and leg movements.

Level III: Intermediate Stroke Development

Skills to pass: Front crawl, elementary backstroke, diving and jumping from side of pool, rotary breathing, treading water, self rescue techniques.

Level IV: Intermediate Stroke Improvement
Skills to pass: Front crawl, elementary back stroke, back crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, butterfly, open turns, surface dives, underwater swimming, survival swimming.

Level V: Advanced Stroke Refinement
Skills to pass: Longer distance swimming and refinement of all swimming strokes, flip turns, shallow angle diving.

Level VI: Advanced Options

Objectives: Personal water safety, Fundamentals of diving, Lifeguard readiness, Fitness swimmer.
